Fedora2 install on Presario SR1151NX Failed!

Presario SR1151NX is a P4-HT machine, with WindowsXP Home on a 160GByte SATA disk. I Used BootitNG to shrink the windows partition to 100 GB, and installed Fedora2 on the remaining ~40GB.

Fedora installed fine, including the boot loader, but on my second attempt to reboot, the machine booted instead to the Compaq system recovery partition. All attempts to get back to normal booting failed, and I had to scratch install WinXP.

I've installed dozens of systems with various RedHat versions, and Fedora 1 and 2, and never had anything like this happen. Is there anything special about that Compaq recovery stuff that might be a problem?

Anyone seen this before?
