Fedora dhclient error

Hi people,

Then I boot my laptop running Fedora core 5. I get the following message at startup:

Determining IP information for eth1.../sbin/dhclient-script: configuration for eth1 not found. Continuing with defaults.
/sbin/dhclient-script: configuration for eth1 not found. Continuing with defaults.
PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) from 192.168.1.4 eth1: 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, +3 errors, 100% packet loss, time 2019ms
, pipe 3
failed.

My question is which files do I need to manipulate in order to avoid this error? And how ?

Best Regards
Fred

Are you using two ethernet connections? I sounds like the system is trying to determine the IP information for an inactive eth device. Open Network configuration and check the status of the eth0 and eth1 devices.

Hope this helps

Hi Bob and thanks for Your answer,

Eth0 is inactive cause it is the ethernet device, and I have no cable connected.

Eth1 is my wifi connection and its active.

What else can I do ?

/Fred

Well, the error message is complaining that it is not finding a configured eth1 connection. I would go into network configuration and set up the config details for your wireless connection (gateway address, primarly, which is your wireless router I am assuming). From the error, it looks like your eth1 is 192.168.1.4 and your router is 192.168.1.1, this is probably information being automatically determined by the dhcp daemon. So it appears as though your wireless card is not configured properly.

I am afraid I don't use wireless, but I know ndiswrapper is the Linux driver for it. Do you have your card configured propely with the proper driver? You will probably get a better answer in the networking forum.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

The things is then I get into Fedora GUI then there is no trouble connection to the Internet using eth1 and Wifi, but I only get this error at startup.

My router is a netgear router, and the reason for the two ip adresses is that every time a user connects to my AP, then I gives that person a ip-adresse e.g 192.168.1.4.

It seems that Fedora don't get that? If Yes how do I make Fedora understand it?
