Fedora Sound Card Not Detected

I have been using Fedora linux since core 2, and recently upgraded to 4 (clean install)

My Motherboard is MSI-KM4AM-V with VIA chipset.

I had loaded eveything I want and got xmms and xmms-mp3 running fine.
And listend to 2 cd's and 20-30 mp3's

I shut down my pc, rebooted later that night with no issues,
shut it down again and next day upon reboot I got this

Code:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (No such file or directory)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
I went into the Controll Center and tried switching to the OSS and got this error

Code:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
And when I probe for the card I get nothing. All of a sudden it's not detecting my onboard sound card. Any Ideas?

Just an update.

A few other wierd things are happening.
When I run the sound card detection app, nothing happens. it wont run.
And when I run alsaconfig, I go through all the steps and at the very end it says

Configuratation failed, no sound card has been detected.

I have a pull out harddrive and tried with my winXP drive and everything works fine.

Hi,
i am planning to build a low budget 3-node cluster, with Linux using "msi km4am-v" microATX motherboard. Is sound the only problem?
Are there any other compatibility or stability problems?
I have been looking in Google for hours, but no clear answer.
Please help.
Thanks
