Fedora Core 3 Soundblaster Live! 5.1 no sound

I am a complete newbie to linux. I have installed Fedora Core 3 and updated it to the latest updates using the built in updater. I have a volume control in the task bar, but have no sound at all when playing CD's etc.

Can some help me with this? (in plain english please..)

System specs:
P4 3.2 HT, 1 GB DDR 400 SDRAM, Radeon 9600XT, 2 x SATA 300GB HD's, 2 x DVD+-RW, Creative LIVE! 5.1, 17" TFT, 2mb Cable modem.
Dual boot with Windows XP Pro SP2

Have you tried to run the sndconfig program from a terminal?

It's working now. Don't know why , it just started working before I could do anything suggested.
