Fedora Core 3 on Sony Vaio PGC F305

Hello,

Trying too install FC3 onto an old Sony Vaio PGC F305 notebook. Install proceeds until the anaconda graphical installer starts then crash! - have to hard power off. Tried a few boot options such as ide=nodma noapic acpi=off and the install got as far as installing packages, then crashed again. Blanck scree, had to power-cycle.

Does anybody have an idea how I can get FC3 (what magical sony boot parameters are required?) onto this machine please ?

Does FC3 have an option to use an alternet kernel for the install ? If so you might try that. I had that kind of trouble trying to install mandrake 10 with their 2.6 kernel then used their alternate witch was a 2.4 and it worked like a champ.
