Fedora can't recognize IBM hard disk size

Hello,

I am using an IBM 30Gb hard disk with an Intel celeron pc.

I installed a Redhat 7.1 in it long time ago. Everything is fine.

I tried to re-install Redhat 7.2/7.3/8.0/9.0 and now Fedora. It's very strange that these versions of linux couldn't get the real size of the hard disk. It just can get at last 2Gb. STRANGE !!!!

I tried to use upgrade instead of re-install. The result is same. It must be re-partition the hard-disk.

As I told before, I installed Redhat 7.1 successfully. It kept the partitions in 7.1, and I tried to use 7.2 to upgrade it. When in partition part, it seemed not to recognize the old partitions and just asked for creating a new but only 2Gb size.

That hard-disk could be detect in BIOS with the exact size and I used it in Redhat and M$Wins as well as it can.

Another thing is that after installing the 7.2+/fedora versions in 2Gb partition, I tried to use Partition Magic to enlarge the partition, the OS works fine, and I use fd to check the volume, it can show the exact size (30Gb) ......

It make me crazy. Is there any problem and how can I solve this ???

Best regards,
Eric
