Fedora 3 non-compatible RAM

This is my first post so please bear with me. I am running a dual boot system (WinXP and Fedora Core 3) on a Dell Inspiron 5150, I just did an Upgrade on the RAM it was running 512 now it is at 1280. The WinXP is running without issue but I am suddenly having issues booting the Fedora. If I shutdown and insert the RAM the Laptop linux stalls when enabling the swap space but if I leave the computer on running the Linux it restarts and then has no issues that particular boot only then goes back to stalling. Does anyone know of any issues where Fedora is not compatile with a particular type of RAM? I purchased it from newegg it is a 1GB stick made by Kingmax (DDR333, PC2700). Any insights or work arounds would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

Swap space is generally equal to the amount of ram you have on board. If you have increased it then linux will want to do the same. You will therefore need to ensure your linux partition is large enough to encompass the extra 768MB you have given it.

Regards
Chris

I'm probably mistaken, but I thought FC3 tried to find 2 X RAM as swap. Isn't there a "swap" setting somewhere that she could use?

Swap

Sorry I forgot to mention that I have a separate Swap partition set to 2580MB to encompass the increased RAM. That is what I thought it was as well but that hasn't fixed it either. Thanks for the suggestion though.

(By thw way I'm a he not a she)

Dave
