FC17, viewing Samsung Galaxy S2 as USB disk: KIOExec error

Hello,

I'm attempting to download photos from a cell phone to my PC
by connecting it as USB mass storage media.
When I connect my good old Nokia 3710 fold - everything is OK,
I can view it with Nautilus (under KDE) and copy-paste
files like any other USB storage. But when I connect
the Samsung Galaxy S2 to the USB port (with it displays
something to the effect of "connecting as a storage device"),
it first detects a new USB device, pops up a selection menu
as to how to open it and after I select "View with Nautilus"
it opens a small window with the message:

Code:

Error - KIOExec

Unknown error
Bad parameters

Looking at the "dmesg" output I see the following at the end:

Code:

[ 2462.071043] usb 2-4: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci_hcd
[ 2462.186811] usb 2-4: New USB device found, idVendor=04e8, idProduct=6860
[ 2462.186813] usb 2-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=4
[ 2462.186816] usb 2-4: Product: SAMSUNG_Android
[ 2462.186818] usb 2-4: Manufacturer: SAMSUNG
[ 2462.186819] usb 2-4: SerialNumber: 000e84981a189f
[ 2462.210804] cdc_acm 2-4:1.1: This device cannot do calls on its own. It is not a modem.
[ 2462.210941] cdc_acm 2-4:1.1: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
[ 2462.212232] usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_acm
[ 2462.212235] cdc_acm: USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters

BTW, when I checked the "dmesg" lines when connecting the Nokia,
I noticed that it had been detected as "ohci_hcd" while the
Samsung is detected as "ehci_hcd".

How can I debug this? Where to look? What packages are
needed (or needed to be updated) for the KIOExec error to
disappear?

TIA for any ideas,
kaza.

Hi, I think it's because the samsung switches modes, or at least to the wrong mode, phone instead of memory.

A package called usb_modeswitch

I used to use it to access the sd-memory card of my nokia phone. Not sure I ever actually configured it, it just worked.
