FC10, Hardware RAID

I have tried unsuccessfully to get an Adaptec 1430SA to fully function on my FC10 system. I have also, nearly exhausted available time and patience with the project.

I am looking for a card, like the 1430SA --but one that employs popular GPL, already-on-distro drivers. 3Gb transfer, 4x internal slot, RAID 0,1,jbod, pci-express, less than $200US. If I can get this through newegg or cdw that'd be great.

So question:

1) Does anyone have an immediate recommendation?
2) Is there a compatibility list somewhere?

Welcome to LQ!
LQ has a hardware compatability list (hcl) here. Have you considered updating to FC12 or (soon) FC13 (don't use Fedora so not sure if it would help)?

I guess you could try opensuse or linux mint 8 or fedora live cd just for grins.

OK, I'll ask. Did you try the driver at adaptec? See the note about the bios update.

For some reason posts claim it is a fake raid. I think that is dmraid or something like that.

Hey thanks. Both posts above are very refreshing. brucehinrichs: I have upgrade burnout. I try to limit to just once every 2 or 3 years. Also, I have no evidence a more recent distro will help this Adapetec issue. jefro: OK --I recall this page in a former flurry of searches. It does look promising.

Nonetheless, if another reader happens to have a card they really like --like the one described above, low admin overhead, easy distro portability, etc. --please post here.
