Fatal server error: no screens found

I installed the ati drivers for my graphic card last night and followed the instructions corretly(i think, nix newbie). Rebooted the system and the card was running fine. Yet this morning I can not startx.

yes. you should run

did you check your font path? the log says that none exists? maybe you should change it.
did you use yast/you to install the new ati-drivers?
what i wonder also is: why two "device" sections in your xorg.conf?

I have no idea why there are two devices, but ran that command and got another error.

About the driver install, no i did not use yast to install rather the ati install.

there are a few things a bit weird in this xorg.conf. impressive that SAX would write something like that.
in your "ServerLayout" Section, insert the following line:

there are more duplicated sections also. we need to clean this file.
you can help checking each identifier and the respective connection with the layout.

these are duplicate entries. they are senseless. somehow SAX messed up your config.
I am sorry but I don't see any other solution but editing it by hand.

I've now got x running, the ati driver setup correclty and have learnt how to use vi
