i'm so close and yet so far...... i am farily new to linux and having hell getting my digital speakers to work. I have a sound blaster live value card.

ok i have a athlon Red hat 9 running kernel 2.4.20-28-9. I had to learn how to install the kernel source previously for ntfs support. I followed the instructions on the alsa sound architecuture for the alsa driver. lib and utilis tar files.
compiling seemed to go well up until inserting the modules I used


modprobe snd-emu10k1;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

I get the following eror messages

I recomplied the 2.4.20-28.9 kernel to get ntfs support and renamed it JahJahversion.
when I was compling using xconfig i noticed in the sound folder that emu10k1 was not enabed. Does it need to be or is it not related.

I have come and yet sound is still farther away someone please tell me what to do!!!
