Hi,
Recently I got a old external slim USB Combo drive from my friend, I plug it into my notebook's USB port and run dmesg:
Code:
scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: TOSHIBA Model: DVD-ROM SD-R2002 Rev: 1F26
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Attached scsi generic sg1 at scsi2, channel 0, id 0, lun 0, type 5
USB Mass Storage device found at 2
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
Then I put a CD into the tray and try to mount it with "mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom2", the led will light up a few seconds then the tray will eject by itself.... if I push the tray back fast enough, it will continue to mount the driver, and I can list the files with "ls"...
However when I do a "ls -lR", it will list a few screens of files, then the tray will eject by itself again....
Then I try to use "cp -a /mnt/cdrom2 /xxx" to copy the whole CD to harddisk, also try "dd if=/dev/sr0 of=xxx", the operation will run for fews seconds, then the tray will eject automatically again....
It seems that it's ok when I do some "light" access to the drive, but the tray will eject when I do some "heavy" access.
The drive itself is ok as it run fine under... well WinXP.
Just want to know if someone encountered this kind of problem under linux, and are there any solutions... thanks.
My lsmod for reference:
