Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

External sound

I have an Audio MIDI Interface (External sound Box) "US-144 MKII"
Its a TASCAM usb 2.0
LMDE doesn't see it. The company only has drivers for Windows and Mac.
How do I get around this. I am using linux mint LMDE

If LMDE uses Pulse Audio, and I suspect it does, install the Pulse Audio Mixer (pavucontrol--it should be in the repos). It give you much more granular control over input and output devices than most volume control applications.

Do you have any other USB audio devices (headphones, speakers?) that you can test with?

this 2016 post suggests you may be able to use it with linux
https://autostatic.com/2016/01/28/us...ii-with-linux/

I note that there are changes from 2016. For example on my Debian I have
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_usb_stream.so

I do not have your device so I am leaping at straws to suggest that shared object is relevant but offer it as something to investigate.

In case it is not obvious to you....link claims you need to ensure
usb2 is unbound from your device....meaning it reverts to old usb1
then you should at least see it with
Code:
cat /proc/asound/cards
as that is an old post.....can you see it before unbinding it?

and before you make an .asoundrc file it might be best to post the results to that cat command in case you have multiple devices.....don't just blindly copy and paste please
