external serial modem

im going to be installing slackware either tonight or tomoro and i finally got an external serial modem... wit it be auto configed in the installation proccess? because if so then i have the tutorial and am downloading peng so i can dial out to my aol account! so will an external serial modem work?

an external modem has the absolute best possibilty of working with linux, the question would be about aol and if it conforms to normal procedures.

I have read where AOL don't work with Linux too. You may have to switch to another ISP. Try a local mom and pop. They usually run Linux servers anyway. Mine does. Well turned out my ISP is bigger than I thought but he started here anyway.

Try it or call and ask before you switch though.

ok! thanks guys, and from an earlier post i did find out that i can connect to aol with linux..http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/Lin...AOL.html...but thanks for the info about the serial modem!
