external monitor on a laptop

I have a Compaq Presario 1275 laptop running RH 8.0. I love it! However, I want to hook it up to a video projector for presentations using OpenOffice 1.0.1's Presentation. Does anyone know how to do that?

I just use the keyboard to swith displays, not sure if yours has it or not

it should have a function key and a modifier key for switching

Yep, you're right. I finally got it to work but I had to use another external monitor. I was trying to get it to work with an old, old monitor! thanks
