external modem problem

HI i recently found an Apache external modem (V90 56k full duplex) that is not working :

- IT has not been identified on kppp but when you query the modem it responds well (modem ready) and a blank table appears;
- when i try to connect it begins initializing modem but it just stays there forever;
- I can turn it on (leds appear);
- I couldn't make it work under windows too!
- for what i searched it has a conexant ACF 1mb rom chipset .

Any help would be greatly apreciated !

I just open it this mornning, in order to check which chipset it really has and found two :

- a bigger one named Conexant RP56D/SP F14904.2 9949 HONG-KONG
- a smaller named Conexant L 2800-38 B90877.3
9948 PHILIPINES
- and in the other side it has written AE56SP-RA

can at least someone tell me which one should i look for ?
