Unhappy external modem - get 'please hang up and try again' when dial

Hi..

I've just installed my computer with RedHat 8. I set up an external Intel modem which was detected and configured. I am trying to set up KPPP to dial my ISP using this modem (I'm pointing it at the right device) and after a while I get a voice telling me to 'Please hang up and try again'.

Is there a specific format you should enter the phone number in? I'm in UK, so I put eg 02073359922 (area code, number). Do you need to enter the country code too?

Please help...

Thanks... HW

Check with your ISP provider. In the USA, mine is a local number, so no area code is needed for me, just a local number dial.
