The jack is probably a TRRS jack (tip, ring, ring, sleeve) which accepts headphones with built-in microphone. Just plugging in a mono microphone won't usually work. You provided no information about the headset or microphone, however, so I'm just guessing in the dark. How jack get that label? My first instinct would be to suspect a faulty headset/microphone if you're using an all-in-one, and if not, that an external mic just won't work.
