external hp cd-writer problems
 
hi everyone
i really have a problem with my hp 7500 external cd-writer it is connected over parallel port and so far i can say the following i did insmod for parport,paride,epat and pg and the dmesg finds it also xcdroast and cdrecord find it as cd writer i can also erase cdrws without problems but as far as it comes to writing it wont work i always get a "buffer underrun" at 1% any suggestions?

any ideas what i could do? because i really need my cd writer and its the only think preventing me from a full linux system because i have to have a windows partition just for my cd writer !

no ideas out there??? ok so far i tried the following:
lowering the speed to 1x has no effect same problem
and here is my /proc/ide/hda/settings output maybe you can see something wrong:

echo "1" > /proc/ide/hda/settings/wcache doesnt work as well as editing it with nano has no effect.

any further ideas???
