External Hard Drive for Music?

I'm basically out of space on my current hard drives, so I was planning on getting a large, external hard drive (Firewire, this computer doesn't have USB 2.0) solely for my music. I've dealt with a few external devices (USB pen drives, and my brother's iPod through Firewire) and I'm wondering if anyone else uses external hard drives for more than just backups.

I'd like to have all my music on it, but I'm worried a little bit about streaming. In your experience, will my music skip? Is there a specific external hard drive you would recommend over the others? I'm looking to go as big as possible 250+ GB.

Thanks in advance :D

I don't have experience with USB 2 external hard drives, but most music files are only 128 kb/s or 192 kb/s. That should not be any problem. I play music reliably over a 10 Mbit network.

I am useing a Maxtor one touch 200g usb2 drive and it contains mostly my music directory, but not all of it.Works fine.
As for streaming from it,I havent tried it but I dont see why it wouldn't work, its close to the same stats as my sata drives.
