External hard drive enclosures
How is the support for external hard drive enclosures in Linux? I am thinking about getting an internal-external thingy for some extra laptop storage.
thanks, josh |
Very Good.
If you're using USB you need usb-storage either compiled into your kernel or loaded as a module (hotplug handles it well). As long as the disk using a filesystem that Linux can cope with (ext3, fat32, hpfs) then it's very easy. Visit http://www.desktop-linux.net/usbflashdrive.htm once you have your drive for some pointers on getting it to work. Daniel |
