External enclosure with USB connection

Hi folks,

Has any folk using this USB external box/enclosure before;

Please set me some light. I want to use my old/spare HD of ATA66/100 size 6/9/10/20G for storage, transfer data between PCs, do "hd install" of Linux distro, etc.

1. Would this box/enclosure be suitable for my applicaton.
2. Does it need specific setup or OS running. OR just connect it to the USB port of a PC then it'll be detected/recognised as a HD.

If YES please advise what attention to be paid on its shopping

I bought a Vantec enclosure and had no trouble with it. It's just another USB device, so as long as your system can cope with USB, you should be good. My answers to your questions would be

1. Yes
2. No - just plug it into a USB port. Done.
