external Aztech modem!

I am looking for a modem that works under linux.
My question is that does external (usb or serial) Aztech modems work under redhat 9? or they need a driver?
If Aztech modem is not a good choice which modem do you recommend me? (I am not as rich to buy a US ROBOTIC.)
thanks in advance

Just about any external modem will work under linux without drivers. As long as it's not a winmodem (not sure if they make external ones) then it should be right. Internal modems will require drivers.
