Extent of Logitech HID++ support on 3.2.

My brother wanted a keyboard for his birthday. He is running Debian Wheezy. (I believe Linux 3.2.) I can't expect him to make difficult configurations. XFCE, so no relying on GNOME exclusive configuration programs.
Do Logitech devices relying on their HID++ protocol have good support nowadays? How reliable is ltunify, the old/current open-source HID++ program?
