ext2 ext3 lvm restore

ok...
decided to add forty gigs to FC3 distro. already had 1 existing drive there that contained /, swap and /home.
installed the new disk, fdsik-ed it and mkfs-ed it. then it occured to me to add it to the existing /home.
tried lvm
and there it went. no more /home.
i figure that i only killed the header.
is there anyway of restoring?

thanks
