Smile exfat

My micro-SD phone card died. When I tried to read it on Ubuntu I could not mount it. My laptop dual boots to Ubuntu and WinX. I booted to Windows and was able to recover the card. I just inserted it and let Windows do the recovery thing. Basically nothing. Hope this helps someone with the same problem.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me in the past. (even though you didn't know it)

FYI typically exFAT support is not installed by default. All you need to do to install from a terminal window is

sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils

The exfat-utils includes a fsck utility to check an exFAT filesystem. I've never had to repair an exFAT and do not know how well it works in all cases but it should do fine. On the other hand the NTFS filesystem repair is very limited and all but very simple fix does require a Windows operating system.

Exfat support is in the default debian install. But I found out its not all of the exfat tools. If you search the packages, there are some real lifesavers in there.

I read that the new kernel will have the Samsung exfat support included.
