Everex VA2000T

About a month ago I bought an Everex VA4101M which was supposed to have a 1200x800 display. The best that I got out of it with any linux OS that I tried was 800x600.

I returned it to Walmart and ordered a Toshiba from Office Depot based on a very good rebate. They made getting the rebate almost impossible so I returned it, not without a fight.

I am now considering an Everex VA2000T which has good specifications including an intel processor not a Via processor. The only problem that I see is the Via@Chrome9 graphics, which is supposed to have a 1440x900 display. Can anyone make a knowledgeable guess as whether I can expect a better linux display? I can always buy it from Wal-Mart and return it if dissatisfied but it is nuisance.

I intend to wipe out Vista and make it a pure linux computer. I looked at the Dell Inspiron E1550N, Ubuntu, but it does not have a T Ethernet network interface, which rules it out.

Since there have been no responses to my inquiry I have decided to gamble and ordered the Everex VA2000T.

pclinuxos and Simply Mepis work flawlessly on this computer. It was a real pain but I also have Ubuntu working well.
