ethernet prob: realtek rtl8101L

This is an onboard eth on my gigabyte m/b (ga-7vt600). I just installed slack9, so I'm limited to 2.4.22 in modules. I'm trying to figure out what drivers are required for it. I have no way to download anything unless it fits on a floppy since that's my (foot) network capabilities at the moment.

Can someone who has this chip working elighten me?

( i tried 8139too and that didn't work much.)
