ethernet card not working

I just bought a dynex dx-e101 ethernet card (pci) pluged it in and started my computer and find that it doesn't seem to work. i suspect it is really a driver problem. the cd it came with has drivers for the 2.4.x kernel but i have 2.6.8 and the driver doesnt compile (i think...)

I have suse 9.2. can anyone help me?

(im sorry if this should be in the software section. i wasn't sure...)

have you tried yast2 as root and go to the network section.......and set it up that way..(without the cd)?

I have tried it. It does not detect my card so I try to configure one manually. I tried to select mine from the list but mine doesnt seem to be there.

But it just sounds like you don't have the proper kernel support for your card.

This doesn't sound like a big problem though

That Dynex card you bought is really a DLink DFE-530TX+ card. The chipset probably says DLink on it and if you peel their model number sticker off you'll see "DFE-530TX" Which uses the Realteck 3389 driver I believe.

Dynex is best buys brand, in this case, same as DLink only best buy makes more money having you buy it then the actual DLink card.

I went back to the suse network card configuration utility and search for DLink DFE-530TX card and it wasn't there either. It did have some kind of Realtek driver and I tried it but no success.
