Ethernet card doesn't load on startup (Mandrake)

Hello!

(for my first question

I have Mandrake distribution. I downloaded my LAN card drivers, compiled and probed them ($modprobe tulip).
The connection is fine until I restart. After restart I have to disable the connection and probe it again.
Also, while the OS is booting, I can see the console print out: "Initialisation Of eth0 delayed".
Is there a way to make the drivers be there after restart?

(Don't forget to search the forums first...)

The other advise is to ditch the B-grade card and look out for a second hand intel or broadcom nic. It is good general advice too: hunt through surplus electronics stores - you will often find old nics, modems, what-have-you ... many of them linux compatable and actually better on the open-source drivers than some of the "latest" hardware on the win drivers.
