ethenet card cannot boot up

I am new to linux and is trying to use mandrake 9.0

My lan card, filand 10/100 lancard, was recognised by mandrake during the
installation or when checked at the mandrake control centre. It is read as RTL-8139 lan card. But each time when I start the mandrake, it fails to boot up the ethenet card.

Can somebody help and advise?

bless you.
