2 issues..

Issue1:
I have observed at times with Linux kernel "2.6.11-1.1smp"
eth0 fails to come up .... during the system reboot.

Eventually when you force the interface to come up using "ifup" then it comes up... Not able to trace out what's causing this intermittent issue.

Not suspecting any h/w issues as I have seen this mutliple times on different systems.

Issue2:
I have set the interface "eth1" interface to be shutdown during the startup process.. I don't want to use this interface.. however this interface comes up although in the ifcfg-eth1 config file it's ONBOOT is set to "No".... again this issue is from "2.6-11-1.1smp" kernel.

both eth0 and eth1 uses the "tg3" driver module..

Any pointers will be highly appreciated..

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but only the even numbered kernels are considered stable. Maybe you should try 2.6.8 or 2.6.12.
