Etch ati driver for x800gto

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to make the newst ati-drivers work.

I have built the Etch packages, from install program on ATI's website, and istalled them. Though, when i do a modprobe -v fglrx I get a afatal error.

When I try starting X after modifying xorg.conf I only get a blank screen.

EDIT:
I get the following errors: firegl_stub_register failed
/lib/modules/2.6.17-2-486/misc/fglrx.ko Operation not permitted.

What could all of that mean ? I have followed the instructions of people who have made it work, is there something wrong with my xorg version ?

Specs:
xorg version 7
Debian Etch latest kernel (auto update)
Athlon xp 2000+
ATI X800GTO sapphire
1,5G RAM

Please advise,

Sebastian
