eSATA hd using an eSATA PCI card on SuSE possible?

Searching for an external hd I found this:

My PC is on its way to be replaced (it's old and starting to "complain") and I want to backup my data virtually every day (maybe even use the eSATA hd as /home). Also it will be of use in a future DVR project and in general backups.

It doesn't have drivers for Linux, but is that hardware compatible? will it work?

...I can use the USB 2.0 but it will be too slow.
