error in tape backup


Hi All
I'm a newbie to Linux . I have a server Compaq server located remotely. My tape backup runs through a cron on a daily basis. this tapeserver is located again remotely. today i got an error saying that :

DUMP: fopen on /dev/tty fails: Device not configured

STATS:

backuplevel 0
tapedevice /dev/nst0
ejecttape YES
directories / /boot /u09 /opt
timeout 100000 seconds


Can any one please let me know what might be the exact problem??
