Epson Stylus C82 - got it 2 work! but not via USB

I bought an Epson Stylus C82 to work with my linux system. It wasn't working with CUPS...but when I tried configuring it using the parallel cable and changing the setting to /dev/lp0 it works just fine.

Why wouldn't it work with the USB setting?

If you have a C82 working via the USB can you please share your configuration with me.

Thanks
