Unhappy Epson Stylus C44UX problem with RedHat

I've just installed RedHat 9 (kernel 2.4.20-6) and am trying to configure my Epson Stylus C44UX printer. I've got gimp-print installed and I saw on the website that this model was supported. However, when I went to select the printer model from the list the C44UX was not featured. I've tried it with the generic drivers (didn't work) and also with various drivers I thought might be similar (e.g. the C40UX and C42UX). When I printed the test page (CUPS), it prints out the colourwheel just fine (including the black areas so I'm not just out of black ink!) and the wee logo in the bottom right corner (also in black) but that's it - no text or anything. Does anyone know which drivers I should be using and, if gimp-print doesn't work so well with this printer - any ideas where I could get suitable drivers from?
Thanks very much,
Jenn
