Hi. Is it a parallel port or a USB printer? Which model? I've got a Stylus C44UX (which is USB) on FC1 and didn't have too many problems. Nigel. aka farpoint.

Under the Systems Setting Menu >> Printing there should be a printer configuration menu. You will probably have to supply the root password in order to access it. (I am using Scientific Linux 4.0, a RHEL version). I am using an Epson Stylus C84, and it was easy to install using this technique.

As celticgeek says, choose system settings, printing, which will ask for root password. Then, Action, New queue. You will be asked for the printer (Epson) and model. I've got a Stylus C44UX, but thats not on the list, and C42UX worked OK. You will also be asked for the port. Parallel seems to be the default. Make sure you select a USB one. This is all assuming that you have CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) installed on the machine. You can also access CUPS at http://localhost:631 in your webbrowser that allows you to mess about with the printer config. If it has been set up Ok, you should be able to print a test page from the Redhat config tool or from the CUPS webpage. Over. Nigel. aka farpoint.
