Epson Perfection 1260 not scanning with Suse 9.2

I have an Epson Perfection 1260 scanner that i am trying to use with Suse 9.2. I have been able to configure the scanner with yast and the test scan works. However, when i try to use Xsane to scan with it doesn't work. After searching for devices Xsane shows two devices for some reason ( I only have one scanner) and asks me to choose between two identical devices:
Epson Perfection 1260/USB flatbed scanner[plustek:libusb:001:004]
When I select either of them and the rest of the xsane program loads, every time i press the scan button the following error is shown:
Failed to start scanner: device busy
It seems as though the scanner is installed twice so ive tried deleting it and reinstalling but to no avail.
please can anyone help?

See if the following threads/webpages are helpful:

Also, for my 2400 Photo I found (via googling, BTW) that I had to add the line
usb 0x4b8 0x11b
to /etc/sane.d/epson.conf. I sort of doubt that line will do you any good for your model but look in the file /proc/bus/usb/devices for your scanner. Specifically, look for the line that begins:
P:  Vendor=hexval1  ProdID=hexval2
I see on my system
Vendor=04b8  ProdID=011b
Compare that to the line I had to add to epson.conf. Interesting, no? See if that helps. (If not just comment the line out or delete it.)

Good luck...

Scanner now working

thanks for your help but I didn't need to try it in the end because I found out how to get the scanner to work. In /etc/sane.d/dll.conf there were two scanner types uncommented; Epson and Plustek. I think this is because epson scanners use plustek drivers or something but I experimented with commenting out the Epson line. When I used Xsane it still gave me a choice of two (identical) scanners but this time it allowed me to scan.

Thanks for trying to help anyway
