EPSON EPL-6200L and Mandrake 10

Hello
Mandrake 10 finds the Epson EPL-6200L on the network and sets it up. It's there in PrinterDrake, KDE Control Centre and localhost:631 ----- but when I try to print to it, it seems to have worked but the printer remains inactive. The printer connected to a Win98 box and is shared. I don't know what to try??? :(

okay ---- I'm still working away at this problem. The same thing is happening with both the epl 6100L and the epl 6200 L on the network. KDE sees the printers and appears to set them up. The drivers are present (it seems) ---

General
Type: SMB shared printer (Windows)
Name: printer1
Location:
Description: EPSON EPL-6200L epl6200l

Backend
URI: smb://workgroup/xx/printer1

Driver
Type: DB driver
Manufacturer: EPSON
Model: EPL-6200L epl6200l
Description: Epson EPL-6200L Foomatic/epl6200l (recommended) [English]

--- but, though test printing seems to be happening, it doesn't really. The printer does nothing at all.

edit -- I have just "printed" this page and to the untrained eye, it looked as though the priint had happened. I dashed to the Epson in question and stared stupidly at it for about a minute. Zilch!

I'm still stuck --- I really don't know what to do next. The printer is appearing. The driver is there. Just not printing!! :(

Update - when I look at Cups , test prints seem to be {aborted} --- how do I determine by what?? Other prints seem to be the same.

edit - when I try to restart the print jobs, I get

I have no specific advice to offer, but the single best source of info about printing under Linux is LinuxPrinting.org They've got a bunch of printer drivers, instructions, and tutorials about how to get things working, so if you haven't visited there already it may be worthwhile. Good luck with it -- J.W.
