EnvyHT24 + ALSA + RH9 = issues

I followed the instructions on the ALSA site for compiling and making the necessary files. The modules.conf file has been modified. However, I'm getting 2 depmod errors during boot - one pointing to sound.o and the other pointing to ice1724.o (the real sound card driver). Any pointers to get me up and running with sound would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm probably a bad person to give advice since I'm such a NEWB but after having the same problem I have come across some solutions. I've read that a lot of people are having trouble using the tar files on redhat 9, speficially at the point of modprobe. As a followup I have read that people have solved this by using the RPM versions, although I personally did not get the rpms to work. I think maybe the reason was that I didn't uninstall the tar files, and/or that I double clicked the rpms instead of doing it another way, dunno. But here is the site for the RPMS. Give it a shot if you want. http://shrike.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=13
Hope this helps. Take care.

By the way, here is the mailing list post that I was using as a reference. I'm pretty sure that there were more posts on the list about redhat 9 problems, so you might try to browse the archives. Here is the page, I hope it helps.
