Entropy Generator for Debian Etch
Looking for a device that'll generate significant amounts of entropy for the kernel.
Do the following processors have a hardware RNG? Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 AMD Turion 64 ML-34 If so, that'll do just nicely. If not, what can I use to either utilize existing hardware to generate entropy? What devices exist specifically to generate entropy? |
Have you looked at the Wikipedia article?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardwar...mber_generator I think if Intel/AMD included such a thing it would be publicised more. VIA CPUs have hardware rng and they feature it in their marketing. Anyway, the article discusses some alternatives. |
I do know that both Intel and AMD implement HWRNGs in their chipsets (not processors, sorry, didn't ask the right question - it was very late for me.)
Meant to ask, what chipsets for those CPUs implement HWRNGs. As for the Wikipedia article, I've already read it. I'm not looking for concepts - I'm looking for products. Something I can make, something I already have, or something I can buy. |
I don’t know about AMD chipsets which have a tRNG, but the Intel ones are not made anymore (at least not that I know of).
