Ensoniq 5880 Audio PCI test sound okay but no Sound from CD Player
 

I have Red Hat Linux 9.0 newly installed as dual boot with Win XP. The sound card was detected (as Vendor: Ensoniq Model 5880 Audio PCI Module: es1371) with the test sound playing okay. However when I try to play the CD or wav file the file seems to open and work normally but no sound comes out from the speakers. I tried to increase the volume in the mixer and player but of no use. Is there a GUI way to correct the problem. I am trying linux for the first time.
