I have just received a logitech trackball (T-BC21) and it all works fine out of the box except the wheel-scrolling emulation (the trackball doesn't have a wheel).

To enable vertical scrolling while holding down the small, left mouse button (button #2 in the image), change /etc/hal/fdi/policy/mouse-wheel.fdi to:
but alas I don't have any hal folder in my file system. So I did a bit more research and found this one http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Instal...ith_Trackpoint
which essentially tells me to create a new file

The issue I have is as I said the fact that there is no hal folder, so after having created the file and pasted the content in it, is it safe for me to create the various folders that will ultimately contain the file hal/fdi/policy/?
