EMU10k1 sound card problem

Hi

I tried to find information on the web but no success after a long search (+ a look at the threads here) I decided to post my problem here.

I have an onboard sound card and a nother card, "Creative SBLive! 5.1", which worked ok with its module 'emu10k1' (yet no success with midi). After trying a different card, because I had problems with midi, I put the Creative card back, and since then it isn't working. It looks like it's physically damaged, but since I don't know much about this, I'm posting the problem here.

dmesg output:

There were a few tens or hundreds of "emu10k1: Warning, unhandled interrupt: 0xe763fc7f".

And lspci output of course:

I actually think it's damaged physically because the output of 'cat /proc/asound/cards' contains the onboard card only.
But who knows, maybe there's something I don't know, going on inside this box.

Help will be accepted with joy. :)

Have you tried running alsaconf as root to see if it gets detected there and for the midi once the module for the card is loaded/working use modprobe snd_seq_virmidi as root then see if it is working.

Thanks a lot !!!! Unbelievable! :D :D :D

I actually forgot the 'alsaconf' command, but above that, I thought that if /proc/asound/cards has only one card it means that the other one isn't working, because it's /proc (so there's nothing to do with programs like alsaconf).

Anyway, thanks a lot.

About midi, I'm having trouble recording, but I think it's a problem with rosegarden which I'm useing for recording. Perhaps there are better sequencers?

And a nother thing, perhaps anyone knows anything about gamix having a segmentaion fault with this card? Using the onboard card, gamix opened up.

When I open a vncserver and open gamix in it, it's ok.
I'v tried to find out what is the problem, but no luck (I copied a nother Config for gamix a few times, but that didn't help. Though it did help others.).

And thanks a lot again! :D :) :D
