Unhappy Easy PC Camera: No drivers :-(

Hello,
I had 3 problems with Linux, and I have sorted two of them out

1) Office Suite: OpenOffice is Cool

2) NO MSN: Yesterday I got a clone from sourceforge.net. No Sound but works OK otherwise

3) No drivers for Intel Easy PC Camera CS110. (USB)
Now this last one is a big hurdle as I cannot find the drivers ANYWHERE

Can someone help me out!

Thnakx in advance...

What is displayed when you run usbview? And if you haven't got it, install it, it should be on the CDs somewhere.

Well,
even Intel says there is no supported driver for Linux/UNIX.
What i was thinking was perhaps someone has written a driver for this model

Thankx in advance...

Yeah, most companies will say that they do not support Linux, but that doesn't mean that the device is not supported... the majority of drivers are not written by vendors.

I would have thought that it'd be covered by some generic V4L (Video4Linux) driver or other. See if you have a /dev/v4l or not (or something along those lines).

several companies build cameras for intel, do a cat /proc/bus/usb/devices and post the camera info.

Typically for cameras, if its not in /lib/modules/2.4.X/kernel/drivers/usb/ and its not listed as part of gphoto, there isn't any support for it. Does this camera have an onboard storage device? If its Smartmedia or Comfpact Flash, those $15 adapters from Bestbuy are a really quick way around that problem.

Cheers,

Finegan

Just done a little bit of googling and... have you tried installing the BTTV drivers? I thought they were part of the v4l suite, but you could try them on their own.
