dynalink adsl ale 070 modem / router

friend has a dynalink ale 070 model adsl modem (we´re both newbies)

the modem / router is a globalspan chipset and is accessed via usb.

In our stumblings we came across a site in france that supports te chip set the modem / router uses.

site is

downloaded the s/w followed our noses and the config hints
(actually think this is an area where we might have goofed explained below)

for the username it is a choice of 2 names.

option 1 username you´d use for a dailup connect

option 2 username as shown below (think it´s NZ thing).

ISP is xtra (national carrier)

adsl to signify that it´s a ¨broadband¨ connection and the network path to te server.

everything else was default.

the result was a lockup on the PC _BUT_ we got a constant light up on the router / modem that was consistant with an net link under windows.

hope somene here can help me / us.
