DWL G122 with ural-linux
Hi everyone,
first of all sorry for my english. I am trying to get a DWL G122 usb wireless adapter working on an iBook 14". I've heard i can't use the ndiswrapper since i'm on ppc, so i found around this BSD driver port: http://etudiants.insia.org/~jbobbio/ural-linux and i downloaded it. I am actually running a 2.6.12-rc6 kernel, and the module, following the prcedure explained in the README file, compiled well. I can modprobe it, but even if i get both the wlan and the ural modules up, the card is not turning on (ie: no lights from the led it is supposed to come from). I think that maybe i'm missing some crucial usb-networking module, but i can't figure out wich. Can anyone who had experiecne with this card help me? TIA again sorry for my bad italian engligh :) bye |
Ciao
ifconfig wlan0 up ???? |
eheh i know iwconfig wlan0 up, but the problem here is before: the card doesn't even power up.
i have no wlan* interfaces at all It's like it's off and the kernel does not see it... I can't understand what went wrong... maybe i have to set something in the kernel? thanks UPDATE: i've searched for the chipset, and it seems that the driver i used was for the B1 and later revisions of the dongle, since the A1 and A2 versions (i have A1) use a prism54 chipset. I downloaded the firmware, installed hotplug, as said in the prism chipset support in the wlan section of the device drivers section of the kernel config, but anything i do i can't get the card to work. it does not respond... |
How does your
/proc/bus/usb/devices look like? Any other USB device work? If not, you have to confiture your kernel. How does your "kernel options" look like? |

everithing else, from the usb flash pen to the usb mouse is working great! i have finally made it and compiled the drivers found at http://prism54.org, i have hotplòug installed and correctly configured (as saifd on the readme) but when i try to load the module prism54 i get an: usb 4-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 Loaded prism54 driver, version 1.2 kobject_register failed for prism54 (-17) Call trace: [c0007e00] dump_stack+0x18/0x28 [c010bce4] kobject_register+0x54/0x78 [c018d038] bus_add_driver+0x60/0x10c [c018d704] driver_register+0x30/0x40 [c011c810] pci_register_driver+0x74/0xa4 [e1034034] prism54_module_init+0x34/0xa8 [prism54] [c003ca3c] sys_init_module+0x274/0x3a4 [c0004670] ret_from_syscall+0x0/0x4c and it fails. Nothing happens in dmesg except the notice that a new usb peripheral has been plugged/unplugged Any ideas?? thanks |
I think the module is called prism54u... and i dunno if it is working yet:

i see
so for now it seems the only way (and it uses the dongle in a reduced and limited way)... well, i think i should have though about it twice when i decided buying a iBook. The strange fact is: *everything else* is working perfectly, the battery lasts 4-5 hours, but i can't get a usb wireless stick wornking... Thank you very much, but i must have missed that page! Thanks again bye |
Hello all,
I have an ibook 14" too and want to buy a Dlink DWL-G122. Does it work under MAC OS 10.4? Are you ruining MAC OS 10.4? Or Linux? I want to get it working with KisMac. Anyone tried it? Thanks, Rob |
