dvd writable support

I am about to purchase a dvd burner for my server, and i am choosing between two different types:

Sony BEIGE DWD22A10 Internal Dual Layer OEM 16x DVD+/-RW Drive

OR

PIONEER DVR-108 4x DUAL LAYER, 16x +/- DVDRW

What is the state of dvd+-r support under linux and can i expect these drives to be supported?

Any help will be great

Cheers

DW-D22A is simply the OEM rebadge of the DRU-710, which in turn are both just the rebadged Lite-On SOHW-1633S (Lite-On is now providing Sony with all of its DVD-RW drives these days).

If you want the Sony, check if the Lite-On price is cheaper (I was rather annoyed with having paid for my Sony DVD-RW, to discover that Lite-On sold the same drive at nearly half the price...)

My 2 cents - I've got a variety of Lite On CD-RW and DVD+/-RW players and they work great. Thumbs up from me but as I said, it's just my opinion. Good luck with it -- J.W.
