DVD won't read psx disks

I am trying to rip games that I own so that I can play them on PCSX. However, my DVD-ROM and DVD-R won't read the disks. I have gotten them to read the disks previously, but now they won't. I am running Ubuntu 6.10 and have a LITEON DVD-R. Not sure what the make of the DVD-ROM is. Both will read other CDs and DVDs, just not PS1 disks. Does anyone know why this is and what the fix might be?

Your best bet is to make a CD image using cdrdao, using the read-cd command. Something like:

Code:
cdrdao read-cd --read-raw --device ?,?,? filename.toc

Put the same device identifier in there as you'd use for cdrecord. You should end up with a .toc file describing which tracks are on the disc, and a .bin file containing the actual data. For most PS1 games, the .bin file is all you need.

The discs are NTSC. Just to clarify, the DVD-ROM and DVD-R won't read the disks. When I put the disks in the drives, the drive will spin, but not load the contents of the disks. I cannot access the disks at all. The drives read data, audio and video CDs and DVDs, just not the games.
